Organic Vs Conventional – Where To Splurge And Where To Save

Anyone who’s interested in food and/or healthy eating has at some point heard that organic food tastes better and is better for you (and the environment). This is all well and good but if you’ve ever cruised the organic food section of your supermarket you’ll know why the world hasn’t instantly switched to organic: price.

It’s with a lot of interest then that we read the Environmental Working Group‘s 2013 ‘Dirty Dozen’ and ‘Clean Fifteen’. In essence, this list takes the tried-and-true practice of a high/low wardrobe to your pantry. The idea is that certain fruit and vegetables absorb pesticides more than others, so if you’re going to buy some organic, it makes sense that you’d buy those which are more contaminated when grown conventionally.
