November Editor’s Picks

November - Editor's Picks

I know, I know… it’s a huge cliche but seriously, where has the year gone?! There’s no denying the festive season is just around the corner and we’re now on that slippery slope to the new year. It’s been a huge month at The Lifestyle Department; the site is growing faster than I ever anticipated and we just got back from the Marlborough Wine Weekend where we got to experience New Zealand’s Marlborough region in all its ridiculously spectacular glory (stay tuned for more on that front!). Anyway, here are my picks for the month; the things I’m admiring, coveting and perhaps pocketing myself…

Call me crazy, but I don’t know how it’s taken so long for me to get on the fresh produce bandwagon. Thanks to Kelly Bros (1), I’ve been getting fresh produce boxes every week containing assorted in-season fruit and veg that were harvested less than 36 hours before arriving on my doorstep! I thought I ate a lot of fruit and veg, but they’ve been sending me the smallest box they have ($28.00 AUD / week) and it’s more than the two adults that are typically in our household can get through. I’ve been loving getting all creative in the kitchen, using up the goodies in my box.

In case you haven’t noticed, almost e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e has an iPhone. How to tell yours apart in the stack on your dinner table? A chic case, obviously. I love this silicon case by Diane Von Furstenberg (2), $56.55 AUD at Net-A-Porter for combining damage-prevention with Dali-chic.

No matter your age, anything involving a BAND-AID is never fun. This month I’m taking the edge off the pain with these Mickey Mouse BAND-AIDs (3), available in supermarkets and pharmacies for about $2.49 AUD. The collector’s edition tin is available as a gift with purchase (but numbers are limited, so don’t dally!).

In all fairness I could wind up with far more cuts and bruises than I otherwise would via distraction alone with this delicious Marc by Marc Jacobs Queen Diana satchel (4), approx $630.00 AUD via My Wardrobe. For equal parts function and class, surely you can’t go wrong with this baby?!

If you’re being all responsible and saving your pennies for a bit of end-of-year sale splurging but still want some luxe in your life, you can’t go past the Le Dix minimalist leather cuff by Balenciaga (5), £146.00 at They come in a variety of colours, but no matter which you choose this will be that extra something that somehow just pulls every single outfit together.

I love, love, LOVE a slim fitting pencil skirt, but as I mentioned before we’re getting dangerously close to that time of year when you find yourself subsisting on canapés and champagne, so I’m eyeing up forgiving dresses like this gorgeous number from Whistles (6), £165.00. Who would have thought one colour could be festive, timeless and on-trend? Win!

Before the party season gets truly underway though, I’ll be making my way through the ultimate champagne guide by Tyson Stelzer (7), $39.95 AUD. Not just a great gift, it’s going to mean I can ferret out the best bubbles at every soiree.

Finally, whether it’s at home or on holiday chances are good I’ll be getting some warmth in my life pretty soon. Even when it’s scorching, sparkly sandals like these ones by Musa (8), $408.28 AUD at Net-A-Porter mean I stand a chance of being just a little glam.
